AI Reading Copilot

An AI companion for long-form reading: summaries, selection-based follow-ups, skill calls, and Socratic prompts.

What it is

AI Reading Copilot is the AI companion BestBlogs drops into every reading page. It's not just "summarize this" — it's a generalist you call in when you finish the article, highlight a sentence, or get stuck on a term.

What it does

Scenario Trigger Output
Full-text summary Reading sidebar "AI Read" button Key points + core takeaways
Selection follow-up Highlight any text → popup menu "Ask" Contextual answer with inline citations
Skill calls Sidebar skill icons (define / critique / counter / …) Structured responses
Continuous chat Right-panel chat input Streaming (SSE)
Suggested questions Bottom of each response 3–5 AI-generated follow-up directions
Socratic prompts Sidebar "Reflect" AI asks you questions instead of answering directly

All conversation is grounded in the current article. Answers include sentence-level citations — click to jump back to the exact paragraph.

Usage tips

  • Summarize first, read deep later: skim the AI summary before committing to the full article.
  • Read with a question: highlight a paragraph and ask — more efficient than an ad-hoc web search.
  • Use skills in place of search: define-term, background-knowledge, and concept-comparison skills keep you inside the app.
  • Keep the good stuff: save AI answers to Highlights / Notes alongside the original article.

Where to find it

  • AI Copilot panel on the right of the reading page (persistent on desktop, drawer on mobile).
  • AI Read button on any content card (preview the summary without opening the article).
  • Floating menu after highlighting text inside an article.
