Add Sources

Follow from the public directory, or paste an RSS / webpage URL to add a private source (Pro).

What it is

Add Sources is the single entry point for adding more sources to Following. The route is /me/sources/add.

Split from "Following" (which manages already-followed sources): Following = manage, Add Sources = add.

Three ways to add

1. Follow from the public directory (everyone)

The simplest path:

  1. Open Sources to browse the public directory, or search inside the Add Sources page
  2. Hit Follow on any source you like

Public sources are editorially maintained, available to everyone, and feed the global curated pool.

2. Paste an RSS or webpage URL (Pro)

To follow something that isn't in the public directory:

  1. Copy the target site's RSS URL, or just the webpage URL
  2. Paste it in Add Sources"Add private source"
  3. RSS detection runs automatically (for a webpage URL, it tries <link rel="alternate">)
  4. On success, a preview shows the title and recent items — confirm to ingest

Private sources are visible only to you and never enter the global pool. Pro only, with a cap.

3. OPML bulk import

OPML bulk import is in development. For now, if you're migrating from another reader, paste source URLs via method #2 in batches.

What happens after adding

  • The source appears immediately in Following
  • BestBlogs fetches recent items and runs AI Screening
  • Items that pass the curation bar enter your My Brief (Pro) and For You (Pro)
  • Private sources do not enter Explore or Public Brief

Suggest a new public source

Found a great source we don't carry yet? Use the "Suggest a source" button at the bottom of the page — once the editorial team approves, it joins the public directory and benefits every user.
